Searching For The Truth: My True Story
Film Description
A powerfully moving, personal investigation, Searching For The Truth: My True Story chronicles a survivor’s journey to understand the deaths of three million Cambodians killed by the Khmer Rouge regime. Will the truth ever be known? Dara Duong travels back to Cambodia to find out why the Khmer Rouge tortured and killed their own people.
He tracks down two former Khmer Rouge leaders, and confronts them on film. Their responses are contrasted with personal accounts by other survivors, still struggling with the consequences of the Khmer Rouge’ brutal policies.
Pol Pot escaped justice and passed away in 1998. To this day, other Khmer Rouge leaders have not been tried for their crimes against humanity. Through first hand accounts, archival footage, and the re-enactment of the 1972 murder of his father, Dara Duong gives eloquent testimony on behalf of his country, and demands justice.
